The MS 150 is a fundraising bike ride organized by the National MS Society from Houston to Austin, Texas. The ride is the largest event of its kind in North America, with 13,000 cyclists, 3,500 volunteers, and spectators along the route and at the finish line. The goal of the event is to raise money for many who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Governor Henderson shared that a relative of an SCM employee with MS motivated their team participation. Kissing Asphalt was able to participate in the MS 150 in part due to sponsorship from the Houston Airport Interfaith Chapels. Governor was having a conversation with co-worker Janice Ruley about how he and their team were planning on riding in the MS 150. Janice shared that she and her husband use to ride in the MS 150 because their daughter has MS. Team Captain Governor revealed that if he could find sponsorship; it would be a honor for the team to ride for Janices’ daughter in the upcoming MS 150 ride. She responded whether you ride for my daughter or not; I probably can get the Interfaith Chapel I am a board member of to sponsor your team. Janice proceeded to tell Governor about the Interfaith Chapel and all the charitable work they do. As of today, the Interfaith Chapel has been faithfully sponsoring the Kissing Asphalt Cycling Team for the last 3 years. To show our gratitude; Kissing Asphalt presented a signed Chapel Jersey to the Executive Chaplain and Interfaith Board members in appreciation for their support at last years scholarship banquet.
